Education is the First Step to Prevention

At The Center for Children & Families, we believe that knowledge empowers communities to create safer environments for children and families. As part of our mission, we are proud to offer the following trainings to schools, churches, parents, and community groups:

 

MANDATED REPORTING | How to Recognize and Report Child Abuse
This training is for anyone who works with children and is legally required to report suspected child abuse. It’s designed for staff and volunteers in the following fields:

  • Healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, etc.)
  • Mental health and social workers
  • Clergy members
  • Teachers and child care providers
  • Police officers and law enforcement
  • Photo and film processors
  • Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)
  • Youth organization staff and volunteers
  • Coaches

This training will help you understand your responsibilities as a mandated reporter and how to take action to protect children.

Training length: 45 minutes

 

SOCIAL MEDIA & INTERNET SAFETY TRAINING | Safe Internet Practices 101
This training teaches children and adults how to stay safe online, use social media responsibly, and better understand the digital world.

  • Learn safe internet habits
  • Protect personal information online
  • Recognize and avoid online dangers
  • Understand responsible social media use

Training length: 30-60 minutes (varies by audience)

 

CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING | Empowering Children to Stay Safe
This training uses the 'Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe' evidence-based curriculum to teach children how to recognize unsafe situations and seek help from trusted adults. Children will learn:

  • Learn five age-appropriate safety rules
  • Identify unsafe situations and personal boundaries
  • Understand how to talk to safe adults for help
  • Engage in interactive, age-appropriate activities

Training length: Two sessions (30-45 minutes each, depending on age)

 

HUMAN TRAFFICKING | Understanding and Responding to Human Trafficking
This training helps individuals recognize human trafficking in their communities and know how to respond.

  • Learn what human trafficking really looks like
  • Identify warning signs and common misconceptions
  • Understand how to safely report suspected trafficking
  • Know the steps to take if you encounter a potential situation

Training length: 60 minutes
